Snoop Lion - Reincarnated
I was the first one to be critical on the transformation from “Snoop Dogg” to “Snoop Lion.” Being a long time Snoop fan since ‘92 I hated this, but I also haven’t liked his music for a few years now even as Tha “Dogg” After months and months of being negative towards the transformation I finally told myself, “who are you to dictate what another man chooses to do with his career.” I opened my mind and thought about the positive, “at least he has the balls to try something different & he’s doing it for positive reasons by bringing peaceful positive content to the industry.” Yesterday I finally popped in the album and listened to it from start to finish. I was very impressed to say the least. By no means is it “Doggystyle, The Last Meal, or The Blue Carpet Treatment” but it is a very well put together album. In a time where we are fed trash album after trash album I have to say Reincarnated is not that bad. I was grooving and slowly singing along to most of the tracks. Now I didn’t like every record on the album but there is some SOLID music. Some records that stood out to me were, “Get Away” feat Angela Hunte. This record has a Reggae House feel and stood out because I see myself rocking the record in my sets and making a remix to it. “Remedy” is another one of my favorites, Snoop sounds good singing and Busta Rhymes comes threw with a dope verse. A few of my other favorites are “Tired of Running” feat Akon, “So Long” feat Angela Hunte, & “Lighters Up.” I am not a fan of the lead single “No Guns Allowed” but approve of the message it has. I would recommend to give it a listen with a open mind, it may surprise you. I give it a 3.5/5. Great record for road trips, backyard bbq’s, & relaxing to.
